The decision to quit smoking may be easy, but actually giving up the nicotine habit may be downright impossible. Patches, medications, the “cold turkey” approach and other smoking cessation methods can be effective but are not always successful, especially in the long term.
Hypnotherapy is a great alternative since it not only works, it’s non-invasive and promotes healthy living. Recently, Expert Beacon featured and article by Kimberly Friedmutter which provides useful advice to those seeking to end their nicotine addiction.
According to Friedmutter, following these simple tips can lead you to the path of nicotine-free living:
- be ready to focus on your health
- find a hypnotherapist that works with smokers
- be mentally prepared to quit smoking
- eat lots of oranges
- exercise by doing an activity you love
Friedmutter also cautions against not weening yourself off cigarettes properly and not having a support system. She also advises that addiction recovery is ultimately up to the individual:
“Addiction is a moment in time, not a lifetime event. If you treat your addiction as a phase, you’ll be right. Your mindset is the ultimate determinant of your success. You were born without a cigarette in your mouth. You certainly don’t want to die with one. Your vitality, health and wellness can be the best gift you give yourself and those who love you.”
