When decorating for the holidays, is less more? Kimberly Friedmutter is a firm believer that more is more, and suggests using the unexpected to decorate for the holidays.
“When I first saw these fun giraffes, I fell in love,” says Kimberly. “Brad asked where we would put them. I knew that these oversized decorative critters belonged someplace unexpected. They now reside on my kitchen counter during the holidays in the middle of our two favorite chandeliers. They adorn wreaths full of holly, ornaments and light; and each time I walk into my kitchen I find joy in how they fill up this space with holiday spirit!
“Get creative and do something unexpected while decorating for the holidays! Food is a fun and inexpensive way to utilize the festive, bright colors of the holidays without the work! Let mounds of candy canes (buy in bulk) decorate your clear flower vases around the home! Chocolate-covered cherries in brightly wrapped foil are wonderful in glasses, sitting in unexpected places! Even red and green lollipops from the dollar store can be tossed around bright deco balls on your table garland. Christmas brings out the child in all of us and candy (whether you eat it or not) reminds us of a playful aspect responsible for the creation of Shangri-Las Vegas. Be sweet! Your guests will love your creative, playful side…” —Kimberly Friedmutter
Festive throws and berries can make over any room with holiday cheer.
The decorating philosophy of “more is more” is most the case when decorating the holiday dinner table. Layer the table with candles, berries, flowers, napkins, and anything that inspires and gives you that holiday spirit.
Shangri-Las Vegas is a true Shangri-La in the desert! Being a newcomer to Las Vegas, I love to play up the Vegas inspiration in my home in fun ways.
Welcome to Shangri-Las Vegas! I look for ways to incorporate holiday spirit into everyday decor. My foyer welcomes guests with a copper tub filled with floating candles and flowers. I added some holiday cheer by throwing in some decorate ornaments. And the rubber ducks? Well, why not? It’s the perfect thing to show our guests the playful and fun side of Shangri-Las Vegas!
